The River Goddess, a New Story from Jaraan

I wanted to share an update… The River Goddess, a standalone prequel to my novel The River’s Daughter, will be coming soon!

The River Goddess is a short mythic tale of gods and mortals, set generations before Sahira’s story begins in The River’s Daughter. It tells the story of Naga, the goddess of water who leaves the realm of the gods to live among mortals, falls in love with a mortal prince. When the other gods grow jealous, she’s faced with a devastating choice…

Before there was Sahira,
Before there was Sahiba,

There was Naga…
The river goddess.
…and the lover of a mortal.

And the gods were jealous.

It’s a short standalone story of love and defiance, and it’s set in the same world as The River’s Daughter.

You can read The River Goddess before or after the novel!

• The River Goddess is a prequel to The River’s Daughter, but it does not have to be read before The River’s Daughter
  
• If you’ve already read The River’s Daughter → then you’ll already know that Sahira is told snippets of the story of the river goddess at various points (it’s hinted at by her mother, she hears it from her cousin Leela, and – spoiler – it’s told to her under the cover of trees…)
  
• If you haven’t read The River’s Daughter → you can also start with The River Goddess if you prefer. Then you’ll know the lore of Naga when you do eventually read what comes many, many, many years later…
  
• It’s also a complete story on its own, so you don’t actually have to read The River’s Daughter. If you’re a person who just enjoys gods and mortals mythology stories, you can read The River Goddess as a standalone.
