Part 1 of this "series" covers the Prologue and Chapter 1 of The River's Daughter. These chapters set up the atmosphere of the world of Jaraan and the Covenant of Stillness. Jaraan's women are bound to silence, restraint, and obedience. We meet Sahira Raazaan, who performs the stillness she's expected to, but seems... unsettled. We also learn about her situation – her mother Ameera went missing some years ago, her family's reputation hasn't really recovered, and she's engaged to the town's golden boy Tavin Daraio. We also get a very slight glimpse into what could be under the surface...

In Part 2 / Chapter 2 ("Marketplace"), things shift a little. We get the first moment where Sahira sees the Mehr'an musician (Syfir!). We also meet Elder Nefret, one of the town's most respected elders, and learn why the Mehr'an people are here in Jaraan despite not being particularly liked.
AND we get the first romantic moment with Sahira and her fiancé Tavin (...but also maybe some signs that Tavin isn't necessarily the dreamboat we've been thinking he is).

A lot happens in Chapter 3. 
Sahira has got 6 days until her wedding and has to start doing some wedding rituals (today's involves some symbolism that Jaraan sees its women as mere vessels for their teachings and their children). She also sees the Mehr'an musician and is watching him again (...and is observed doing so).
That night she runs to the river and thinks she hears her mother's voice. She then sees mysterious women watching her and saying mysterious things to her — and then gets caught in an insane downpour. She seeks shelter in a cave, and guess who's inside the cave...

Part 4 (which covers the Chapter 4) of The River's Daughter opens with Sahira waking from a dream (in which the Mehr'an musician watches her from across a body of water) and holding something in her hand that she has no recollection of taking. The day's creepy wedding ritual commences and fills Sahira with discomfort, and shortly after she hears from her father that Elder Nefret expressed concerns about Sahira's curiosity about the musician. When she sleeps that night, Sahira has another weird water-dream – and in this one, she can control the movement of the water. She sees another figure in the dream (the musician? or someone else?), and another surprise guest appears in the dream... And when Sahira wakes up, her fingers are pruned.

Part 5 (covering Chapter 5) has some darker content.
A girl named Kaya slips Sahira a note (which she doesn't read today).
The day's creepy wedding ritual ("Submission") is the most harrowing yet.
She's essentially forced to repeat certain phrases all day that reinforce how little agency she'll have in her impending marriage.
After the ritual she sees Tavin (her fiancé) and they have an experience where her lack of agency is reinforced in the darkest possible way.
He reassures her he'll still marry her. She leaves, and she has a brief exchange with the Mehr'an musician who offers some kindness.
She dreams again this night and sees a man (not the Mehr'an musician), who tells her "go and tell Sahiba that her beloved Mirza calls to her." She awakens in wet clothes, and sees water moving on its own.

Part 6 / Chapter 6 opens the morning after Sahira's experience with Tavin. She opens the note Kaya slipped her yesterday and has a panic attack upon reading it. She goes through the day's pre-wedding ritual, and afterwards, runs away to the woods to recover from the feeling of claustrophobia filling her. She sees the Mehr'an musician. She has mixed feelings toward him but ultimately feels safe interacting with him. They exchange some banter, and then some serious words. They talk more, he finally introduces himself (Syfir!). There's a moment between them, but she leaves before anything can happen. He tells her there's a place where the river runs shallower – maybe he'll meet her there one day...
When she returns home, fiancé Tavin is waiting with a too-tight gold bangle he roughly puts onto her hand to remind her who she belongs to. But not before moisture begins to bead at her wrist, hinting at something beginning to change in her...
